Faure is a ceramic potter based in Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, 25 km from Cordes-sur-Ciel. He primarily works with porcelain, shaped on the potter’s wheel.

Once thrown, the pieces are delicately carved, modeled, or textured. Each creation is made freely, one by one, without constraints or limits. Eric embraces the unique challenges and characteristics of porcelain. For him, every gesture carries intention, leaving a visible impact on the clay. What might be considered “imperfections” becomes part of his playful interpretation, giving each piece its own identity and a sense of deliberate incompleteness or fragility.

Light is his foremost source of inspiration. In a previous chapter of his life, he mastered light through photography, and it continues to guide his ceramic work. His surfaces, though free of decoration, are no less pictorial: sometimes glazed, sometimes raw, always capturing light and playing with translucency, shadow, and brilliance.

Eric has a fondness for utilitarian objects—bowls, teapots, dishes, plates—yet his sculptural creations carry an equally strong sense of utility. For him, function and expression are inseparable. A bowl may serve its purpose, but its uniqueness also conveys the potter’s artistic intent.

His more sculptural pieces are often slender and elongated, like forms reaching toward the light. Totemic vases, Ivory Towers, or Towers of Babel—all invite reflection on our place within human constructs.

In this ongoing dialogue between material and gesture, Eric Faure seeks emotion, subtlety, and a singularity that resonates deeply with each observer.

Please note: the course with Eric will be taught in French, and experience with wheel-throwing is required.
